happy birthday!

On this day, one year ago, a new life was born. I would like to take a moment to celebrate the 1-year birthday of my rubber band ball. Look how much he has grown in the past year!

(my baby on the day he was born)

(my baby today! wow, my camera phone is a lot better than my co-worker's who took the pic last year...)

For those of you who haven't been reading my blog for the past year, you can check out the story of my rubber band ball and how he came into this world. Click here and scroll down to read about my previous loss and the birth of this new life.

Happy Birthday, Rubber Band Ball! I hope that one day you can be as big as your brother. God rest his soul.

hands off my belly!

This is an article I came across today on the MSN home page. While the author is a little more blunt & harsh than I would be, I completely relate to her grievances. She explains some of the feelings that I usually supress in order to avoid offending people. Please take a minute to read the article & then come back to my blog for comments.

Don't get me wrong - I don't mind when friends & family ask me when I plan to have a baby. Granted, it does get a little annoying, but I respect that they are curious about my life plans. However, when the random church member or distant acquaintance from 10 years ago asks what I consider to be a very personal question, it gets to me. Please don't get me wrong - if you are a friend of mine or a family member, you are more than welcome to ask about our family plans. But if you are a complete stranger, or anyone with whom I do not come in contact on a regular basis, it's really none of your business.

Thank you.

tip tuesday: wrinkles & good smells

So, at the suggestion of my friend Sara (Pigg) Walker, I'm writing a "Tip Tuesday" post. I can't promise that I will remember to do one every Tuesday, but who knows.

Ok, so this is how Baron & I do laundry: wash clothes, dry clothes, leave clothes in dryer too long & they get wrinkled, fluff clothes at least a day later to get wrinkles out, leave clothes in dryer again so that said fluffing becomes obsolete, pull items of clothing out of the dryer as needed to wear. This eliminates having to fold clothes & put them away because you just get each item out of the dryer as you need it. The down side is that the clothes are very wrinkled. Enter Downy Wrinkle Releaser. I don't plan my outfits the day before, and I rarely have time to iron in the mornings, so Downy Wrinkle Releaser saves me from my wrinkles. You just spray, tug, let dry, and wear! It's great. Of course, it doesn't work on heavy fabrics like khakis or whatever, and it doesn't give you that crisp look you want for your dress shirts, but for everyday shirts, it's great!

I love clean smells. My favorite smell is clean laundry. Which is funny since I hate to do it. Anyway, Glade has a great scent in most of their products - Clean Linen. I use several products in this scent, but what I want to talk about today is the carpet deodorizer. Whenever I use the Clean Linen carpet deodorizer before I vacuum, the scent lasts for a couple of days. It's like heaven in my carpet. Of course, I have the matching scent for my Glade plug-ins, so the scent then lingers even longer. :-)

I hope you enjoyed my first installment of Tip Tuesday! Feel free to post some tips of your own!
