I know most of my blog readers don't follow American Idol, but I have to post about it because I love the show! We're now in the top 12, and that's when I start to vote. (Yes, I actually vote on American Idol. Don't make fun.) This year has a LOT of talent, and at this point in the competition there are only a couple of contestants that I don't really like. So, for those of you who are fans, here are my favorites. Let me know what you think!

Carly Smithson - influences: Heart, Celine, Skynyrd, Ray Charles, Whitney, Rolling Stones, U2, Janis, Johnny Cash, Annie Lennox.
Michael Johns - influences: The Beatles, Neil Finn, Queen, Otis Redding, INXS, David Bowie, ACDC.
David Cook - influences: Our Lady Peace, Big Wreck. (I have no idea who this is.)
And here is the runner up...even though I didn't vote for him...Jason Castro - influences: Ray Lamontagne, Kirk Baxley (again...???)
First, let me say that I had to work to get to your comment page. Second, I haven't watched any of Idol but based on your post would vote for Brooke. She has an interesting array of influences, she is cute, and she did a great job with the Pat Benetar song with only an acoustic guitar. That takes some courage and raw talent. It is easier to hide behind strong music and easy-flowing lyrics. Of course, I have the musical genius of a 4-year-old.

ReplyDeleteO.K., I actually listened to Carly and WOW! She is pretty amazing. She should have a long career in entertainment if she keeps her great looks like her mother has. When they showed her mom in the audience, she looked more like a sister.
ReplyDeleteThats really funny. I share the same favorites. You know me I LOVE American Idol. But this year I just have not been able to get into it. But last night I was able to actually sit and watch it. And I agree with your five! Now I think I am ready for the season!!!

ReplyDeleteJillina - you aren't the only one who does that! I like the beginning to watch the bad singers, but I also love a good talent show so I keep watching it. I also love America's Got Talent, which runs during the summer. I'm a dork.

ReplyDeleteI like American Idol too. It's the only show I make a point to watch. I like several of them this season, but I think Jason might be my favorite!
