circa 1997

So, last night I went to Lagoon Park to watch Baron play softball. I got to the bleachers, laid out my towel to keep the red dirt off my hiney, and sat down to enjoy the game. Suddenly, it hit me. "Wow, it's really breezy out here. I wish I had a jacket with me. Oh wait...I have my black Old Navy anorak in the car!" So I made the trek all the way back out to the car and retrieved my anorak. I believe we no longer appreciate the value of the Old Navy anorak. I mean, this thing packs into its own pocket! How cool is that? Granted, it may be a little out of date...ok, a LOT out of date...but it's still convenient, right? They were so popular when I was in high school (and of course I didn't actually get mine until my freshman year in college because I've always been a little behind on the trends...still, to this day). So my mom & I were sitting there - she in her flannel jacket and me in my black anorak. What fashion bugs we are!

Out of curiosity...does anyone still wear their Old Navy anorak? I'd hate to think I'm the only one...although I probably am...WOMP WOMP...[reference SNL skit]

  1. Wow, those sound cool. I've got to get me one of them! My 1999 generic Walmart fleece is wearing out. Do they come in pink and in newborn sizes?

  2. I think I would like to have one of those just so I could walk around saying "Hey...check out my black anorak!"

  3. I think it's too hot to be wearing anything but shorts and a t-shirt.

  4. I'm pretty sure I might have mine stuffed in my car trunk somewhere, which honestly isn't surprising since I have found CDs from 9th grade, my highschool graduation video, stuffed animals from who knows when, etc...it's a little scary inside there to say the least.

  5. Hi Laura -
Wow, I had no idea so many "Montgomery folks" as I call all you guys that I knew there, were bloggers. I just found your blog the other day through Hayley through Heather. Anyway, I too still have and wear an anorak which is no big shocker because I have always been 5 years behind the trends, at LEAST!

  7. Wow, Lauren...your mom still wears hers...yeah, that makes me feel a LOT better. I am never wearing my anorak again. Ok but it's not like I wore it on purpose - it was just a backup!!

  8. I do! I do! Mine's royal blue and I too got mine, my freshman year at college! =)
People look at me funny when i say Anorak, like they have no clue what it is. I think they're trying to pretend they never had one...like people who pretend they never liked the New Kids on the Block! LOL
